Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Thursday evening issued condolences and a message over the loss of celebrated Greek composer Vangelis, who passed away on Tuesday at a Paris hospital at the age of 79.
“For the entire world this sad news denotes that the global musical scene has lost its international Vangelis; a pioneer in electronic sound; an Oscar winner; the Mythodea (of NASA) and other great successes. For us Greeks, however, who knew the middle name of this ‘Aphrodite’s Child’, he was an Odysseus – meaning he commenced his great journey to the Chariots of Fire. It’s from there that’s he send us his musical notes.”
