The crew of Panama-flagged cargo vessel “QUATERDESIES” g, 90 nautical miles west of Pylos, was picked up by a Hellenic Navy helicopter, when in the early morning the ship started taking on water from causes unknown.
The ship is loaded with cement and had started from Turkey bound for Italy. Three other ships were close to the site of the incident. Prevailing winds in the area are northwesterly of 5 Beaufort.
