The Minister of Development and Investments Adonis Georgiadis expressed his intention to help in order to solve the problem that has arisen with the lack of land workers, in an interview today with Radio Crete.
Mr. Georgiadis, referring to a proposal made known to him during the broadcast in order to create a program – similar to the social tourism scheme – to subsidize the transportation and accommodation of workers, stated that he intends to mediate in order to promote the issue and find a solution.
Today, the minister was in Heraklion, Crete, in order to attend an event on the occasion of the investment of the new data center planned by LAMDA HELLIX.
According to what has been announced, the new data center will be the first carrier-neutral facility on the island and is expected to support the development of up to 6.5 MW of installed IT load, with the completion of the first phase scheduled for 2025.
According to Mr. Georgiadis, with the start of the investment, Crete enters the world map of Informatics, since it also has excellent potential due to the ITE.
Household basket
In his interview, the minister, referring to the household basket, reiterated that it brings price restraint to products that are not included in it, while adding that the fact that more and more people are visiting the digital e-katanalotis platform is indicative of the need of consumers to find the cheapest products.
As the minister said, a large part of consumers shop from among “household basket” items and for this reason the branded product industries, wanting to keep their customers, are forced, instead of increasing prices, to reduce them by 5 or 10% said Mr. Georgiadis characteristically. He, once again, called on consumers to shop from the “household basket” in order to further put pressure on prices.

Christmas basket
Regarding the Christmas basket, Mr. Georgiadis said that there will be some additions and removals of products as the ministry follows the change in consumer preferences. As far as the e-consumer platform is concerned, he said that thousands of consumers visit it every day to compare prices between products and decide from which store they will make their purchases.
Revaluations
Regarding the revaluations, he mentioned that there is a check for profiteering in terms of inflation, while referring to the energy crisis, he said that Greece will not face a problem since it moved quickly enough and ensured energy sufficiency in a Winter that will be quite difficult for the whole of Europe.
Transportation Equivalent
Referring to the exemption of Crete from the Transport Equivalent, Mr. Georgiadis described the complaint of the island’s residents as reasonable, while speaking about the inclusion of Industrial Parks in the recovery fund, he said that with the new law every entrepreneur is given the opportunity to create an Industrial Park, while recognizing the oversaturation of the Heraklion Industrial Zone.
Digital Business Transformation
Regarding the digital transformation, he emphasized that the two programs (Recovery Fund and NSRF) cover all businesses that are required to change their form in the 21st century.
