Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis covered a wide array of issues on Thursday in a nearly half-hour interview with CNN host and political commentator Fareed Zakaria, speaking on the sidelines of the Davos World Economic Forum in the Swiss resort, where among others, he expressed optimism that Athens and Turkey will be able to resolve difference after elections in the respective countries this year.
Mitsotakis, the incumbent premier whose ruling New Democracy (ND) will be tested in a general election before probably June, also fielded questions on the energy crisis, Greece’s improved finances and economy since 2019 and efforts to prevent illegal migration.
The center-right political leader downplayed any possibility of a conflict between Greece and an increasingly belligerent Erdogan-led Turkey.
