Services providers active in accommodation and F&B (food and beverages) in Greece saw turnover in January increase by 11% reflecting an extended tourism season.
More specifically, according to ELSTAT, Greece’s statistical authority, revenues in the first month of the year for accommodation and F&B services providers came to 270,926,904 euros up from 244,187,777 euros in the same month a year ago.
Zakynthos island reported the largest increase in turnover for January up by 66.4% with the smallest rise at 6.5% seen in the Region Attica.
A closer look at accommodation services reveals an 11.9% rise in turnover in January to 94,097,348 euros up from 84,061,799 euros in January 2023.
In the same month, F&B services in Greece generated a total of 176,829,556 euros up by 10.4% compared to January 2023 and 160,125,978 euros.
The upward dynamic comes on the back of a strong year in 2023 when Greece welcomed 32.7 million travelers marking a 17.6 percent rise over 2022 who generated a total of 20.5 billion euros in revenues, according to central bank data.
