Europeche: Greek Apricot Production Recovers

The Greek apricot production is estimated to recover in 2024, according to the Association of National Organizations of Fishing Enterprises in the EU, Europeche.

Europeche forecasts the production will bounce back despite a slight decrease in varieties attributed to high winter temperatures.

The estimations by Europeche, released on April 24, forecast Greek production will reach 87,500 tons, marking a 6% decline compared to 2023 but a 13% increase over the five-year average.

European apricot production is projected to amount to 523,986 tons this year, remaining unchanged from the previous year and representing a 2% increase compared to the five-year average for the period of 2018-2022.

Production in Italy is expected to reach 214,282 which is attributed to the gradual reduction in cultivated area in recent years.

Production in Spain is estimated at 134,352 tons (46% more than the previous season and 29% higher than the five-year average), with significant variations depending on the region.
