The number of Greek-owned ocean-going vessels, consisting of ships of more than 100 GRT, saw a reduction in March 2024.
According to data by the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT), the Greek-owned fleet’s strength decreased by 0.4% compared to March 2023. This follows a previous decline of 0.7% from March 2022 to March 2023.
In addition, the total capacity of the Greek merchant fleet experienced a significant drop. The capacity fell by 3.5% in March 2024 compared to the same month in 2023.
This continues the downward trend from the previous year, which saw a 4.7% reduction in capacity from March 2022 to March 2023.
