The European Parliament elections will take place in 15 days, on June 9, however, for voters planning to cast their ballot by mail, time is of the essence as a voting deadline is fast approaching.
Out-of-country voters must ensure their ballot envelopes are dispatched no later than Tuesday, May 28, to meet the voting deadline. Meanwhile, voters within Greece have until Monday, June 3, if collected by the postal service, or Tuesday, June 4, if dropped off directly at a post office.
For postal votes to count, they must reach their destination by Saturday, June 8, at 5 p.m. Athens time (15.00 GMY) – roughly a day before election day.
Should an envelope fail to arrive on time at the designated postal vote collection point, it will be returned unopened to the sender. In such cases, and for those who opt not to send their envelopes altogether, voting in person at their registered polling station on election day is still an option, but only after 11 a.m.
For registered voters residing in countries where courier services cannot deliver election materials – such as Ukraine, North Korea, Cuba, Russia, Belarus and certain outlying islands of the United States – voting can be done at local consular offices, provided prior arrangements are made.
