Greece’s Independent Power Transmission Operator (IPTO) has officially joined GO15, the global alliance of the world’s largest transmission system operators.
The company’s entry into the organization was made possible thanks to its advanced work on high-voltage direct current (HVDC) interconnections—both domestic and regional—combined with Greece’s strategic geographic location and its significant renewable energy potential.
GO15 brings together leading transmission operators to exchange knowledge, share best practices, and collaborate on common challenges facing the power sector. Its members collectively manage more than half of the world’s electricity demand.
By joining the alliance, IPTO strengthens its international presence and forges closer ties with transmission operators from countries including the United States, China, France, Brazil, and Russia.
What members do
GO15 members work together to identify and implement emerging technologies aimed at modernizing and safeguarding electricity systems. Key areas of focus include digitalization and artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, energy storage integration, and strategies to ensure grid stability as networks increasingly adapt to low-carbon energy sources.
In addition to technical collaboration, GO15 represents its members in global energy forums and organizations such as ENTSO-E, the International Energy Agency (IEA), and the International Energy Council. At its upcoming annual meeting, the alliance will officially welcome IPTO as its newest member.
