A wildfire was reported late Friday morning in a coastal municipality southeast of Athens, mostly affecting hilly and rocky brushland in the popular holiday district of Saronikos.
The blaze was aided by very gusty winds blowing in southern Greece during the day.
Authorities issued an emergency SMS to users in the wider region to evacuate the Feriza site towards the coastal resort of Lagonissi.
