The import price index in Greece’s industrial sector decreased by 20.8 percent in May 2023, compared with the same month in 2022, following a 37.7 percent increase over the same months between 2021 and 2022, the Hellenic Statistical Authority (EL.STAT) announced on Friday.

Specifically, the decline in so-called “imported inflation” reflects a major decrease in the price of oil, natural gas and electricity, while the food industry index rose by 6.2 percent in the month.

The import price index emanating from countries outside the Eurozone decreased by 29.2 percent, while the import price index from Eurozone countries increased by 0.2 percent in May 2023.
