A Turkish multi-millionaire seriously injured last week during a speedboat accident off the Dodecanese Island of Leros remained in an ICU in Istanbul on Monday, and, according to reports, suffered from another bout of internal bleeding that required surgery.
Ali Sabanci, the owner of Pegasus Airlines, required removal of his spleen and hours of vascular surgery after slamming into the steering column of the speedboat he was piloting during the collision.
The inflatable craft crashed into the rocks off Leros, with initial estimates pointing to location disorientation and lack of GPS as causing the accident. His wife was also serious injured in the crash, but is not in danger.
A total of six people, including Sabanci, were on the speedboat, including his two children, who were unharmed.
According to CNN Turk, the couple had arrived on the Greek isle of Lipsi to celebrate their wedding anniversary.
