Greece is considering the prospect of issuing a “green” or “sustainable” bond, FinMin Christos Staikouras said on Tuesday, during statements on the sidelines of the 7th meeting of the Alliance of Finance Minister for Climate Actions.

He added that despite the major challenges faced by the country, such as the health crisis and now the energy crisis, Athens remains committed to “aligning economic growth with out ambitious climate goals, which remains at the heart of Greece’s strategic priorities.”

To emphasize this point, he pointed to a forecast by the National Recovery and Reliance Plan, dubbed “Greece 2.0” to allocate more than 37 percent of its budget for implementation of significant “green investments” and reforms.
