The first test flights of the first Greek Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), currently under construction, are expected to start in early October, according to Finance Minister Christos Staikouras.

As he stressed, experimental flights will start at the beginning of October, initially using a fully functional scale model , and the organization of the special industrial production lines at Hellenic Aerospace Industries.

He added that the “Archytas” project is expected to be completed by the end of 2023 – first two months of 2024 “, while noting that” preparations are underway for a second, upgraded system, with the cooperation of the Ministries of Finance, National Defense and Development and Investment ».

The project is an initiative that is funded by the Ministry of Finance. It is implemented, in terms of research-design, as a collaboration with the Universities of Thessaloniki, of Thrace, Thessaly, and Hellenic Aerospace Industries.
