Main opposition and former PM Alexis Tsipras on Monday spoke by phone with Parliament President Costas Tasoulas, with the former saying he will submit a request for Parliament to reopen sessions and commence an off-the-agenda debate, in a plenary session, regarding the ongoing wiretapping furor.

Tsipras demanded that surveillance of political leaders and journalists by the country national intelligence service (EYP) come up for debate on Parliament’s floor.

Tsipras, who leads the radical leftist SYRIZA party, called on Tasoulas to meet his “self-evident democratic responsibility and allow” all legal and parliamentary checks and probes into the furor.
