The total value of Greek exports in the first quarter of 2024 amounted to 12.3 billion euros, compared to 13.85 billion during the same period in 2023, according to Greece’s statistical authority ELSTAT.
This marked an 11% decline in euros, causing a rise in the country’s trade deficit, which reached 7.97 billion euros, compared to 7.33 billion during the same period in 2023, marking an increase of 8.7% in euros.
Amid international uncertainty and armed conflicts in Gaza and Ukraine in 2023, Greek exports continued to decline, ending the year with an 8.5% drop.
Imports in March amounted to 6.6946 billion euros, compared to 7.4436 billion, marking a 10.1% decrease in euros. The value of imports excluding petroleum products decreased by 297.3 million euros, or 5.4%, while excluding both petroleum products and ships decreased by 307.8 million euros, or 5.6%, compared to March 2023.
The total value of imports during the January-March 2024 period amounted to 20.301,9 billion euros, compared to 21.186,4 during the same period in 2023, marking a decrease of 4.2% in euros.
The trade deficit for March 2024 stood at 2.411,2 billion in March 2023, registering a decrease of 7.0% in euros.
