The metallurgical sector of MYTILINEOS, was certified with the Performance Standard of the ASI Initiative, for all the activities of the company, in the aluminum production chain, such as bauxite mining, alumina production, aluminum production and the casting of aluminum products.
More specifically, ASI announced that MYTILINEOS has been successfully certified with the ASI performance standard for responsible production, supply and management of aluminum with a scope in:
• bauxite mining activities at the Delphi Distomo facility
• the activities of alumina production, production of liquid aluminum and casting of aluminum products in the Aluminum factory of Greece
• the port facilities at the Aluminum factory in Greece and the Company’s headquarters in Athens.
“We are very proud to be certified with the ASI Performance Standard, as it reaffirms our hard work and commitment to the Sustainable Development Strategy. The ambitious goal of MYTILINEOS is to become a global benchmark for Green Metallurgy, committed to reducing the absolute emissions of the Business Metallurgy Sector by 65% and, respectively, the relevant emissions by 75% (per ton of aluminum produced) to , said Dimitris Stefanidis, General Manager of the Metallurgy Department of MYTILINEOS and added: “We are confident that we can achieve these goals and the Certification with the Performance Standard of ASI proves our responsibility and effectiveness.”

The ASI initiative
The Aluminum Stewardship Initiative (ASI) is a global, multi-stakeholder, non-profit accreditation and certification body that has developed an independent certification program to ensure that the principles of Sustainability, Corporate Social Responsibility, Governance and Human Rights are increasingly integrated into the production, use and recycling of aluminum. The ASI Certification Program has been developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process and is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability model initiative for the aluminum value chain.
The ASI Performance Standard sets out principles and criteria related to the environment, society and governance, with the aim of addressing sustainability issues in the aluminum value chain. It sets out 59 criteria under the three pillars of sustainability of the Government, the Environment and Society that address key issues such as biodiversity, human rights and greenhouse gas emissions.
