
Greece won important distinctions, confirming the high interest of Americans for Greece in the Leisure Lifestyle Awards and the Wherever Awards, as announced by the Hellenic Tourism Organization. The event is jointly owned by Global Traveler’s & Leisure Lifestyle magazine and the family-run travel website Whereverfamily.com owned by US publisher FXExpress Publications Inc.
Specifically, based on the choices of the reading public of the two media, at the Leisure Lifestyle Awards:
• Greece won the award “Best Historical Attractions International”, while
• Santorini was named the “Best Island in Europe” for the ninth consecutive year.
Also, in the same awards, Mykonos took the 3rd place in the category “Best island in Europe” and the 7th place in the world in the category “Best beaches”, while Crete the 8th place in the category “Best island in Europe” .
At the same time, at the Wherever Awards, Greece was ranked 2nd in the category “Best Family-Friendly Multigenerational Destination of the Year”, with Ireland first and Italy third.
Voting for both awards began on December 14, 2021, with the one for the Leisure Lifestyle Awards ending on April 30, 2022 and the Wherever Awards on March 30, 2022.
