The municipality of Athens, the largest in Greece, on Tuesday announced that it will keep eight halls open until 8 p.m. (local time) to offer spaces with air condition, given that the season’s first heat wave has been forecast.
Temperatures around the east Mediterranean country are expected to reach up to 39C in certain parts of the lowlands on Wednesday, with no precipitation forecast.
The median high temperature is projected to reach 37C.
