Minister of Development Takis Theodorikakos announced a new bill aimed at reducing bureaucracy for businesses by an additional 25% during the 40th OT Forum, titled “A New Productive Model—’ Greece 2030′”, organized by Oikonomikos Tachydromos on December 2–3 at the Small Athens Stock Exchange, in the presence of Christian Hatziminas, President of the Hellenic Entrepreneurs Association (E.EN.E).
The minister also revealed the re-establishment of the Government Council for Industry during a recent cabinet meeting.
Theodorikakos highlighted ongoing investment interest, stating, “In recent months, I have met with economic stakeholders from around the world who want to invest in Greece.” He emphasized the government’s commitment to cutting red tape, saying, “We will eliminate another 25% of bureaucracy.”
Christian Hatziminas emphasized the need for more investments, noting, “We want more investments,” but highlighted the challenges of Greece’s regulatory framework. He remarked, “We have the worst framework. Our processes take a decade, while Europe operates on a 4-5 year timeline.”
Both speakers agreed that Greece’s significant current account deficit poses a serious problem. Minister Theodorikakos reiterated the measures announced with the Prime Minister on October 21 and emphasized the importance of bolstering Greece’s industrial sector.
On his part, the President of the Hellenic Entrepreneurs Association stressed the importance of increasing value-added contributions to secure the economy. He highlighted E.EN.E ’s earlier proposals and underscored the need for reindustrialization, with a focus on digital sectors, as a cornerstone of economic growth.
For two days, leading figures from politics, economics, and business will exchange views, present proposals, and discuss concerns on the critical and highly relevant topic Productive Model for Greece at the 40th OT Forum.
