More than 1.2 million households in Greece will receive this year’s heating allowance, as the government confirmed that both the amounts and eligibility criteria remain unchanged for the 2025–2026 winter season.
The distribution of heating oil will begin on October 15, with prices expected to start at €1.15 per liter. Meanwhile, the MyΘέρμανση (MyThermansi) online platform—where households must apply for the subsidy—is expected to open in November, ahead of the first payments before Christmas.
Unchanged subsidy amounts
The heating allowance ranges from €100 to €800, depending on household income and location. In colder regions, where the climate coefficient is one or higher, the allowance increases by 25%, reaching up to €1,000, and in some of the coldest areas it can climb to €1,200.
A Joint Ministerial Decision defining the full details of the program is expected by the end of October, with the total budget exceeding €195 million.
Who qualifies
Eligible applicants include individuals or families—married, single, cohabiting, or single-parent households—who use heating oil, natural gas, LPG, firewood, pellets, district heating, or electricity for home heating.
Income and property limits
To qualify, applicants must:
Submit an application via the MyΘέρμανση platform for their primary residence only.
Have an annual income below €16,000 for singles and €24,000 for married couples, increased by €5,000 per child.
For single-parent families, the limit is €29,000, also increased by €5,000 per additional child.
Those with business income must not exceed €80,000 in gross earnings.
The property value must not exceed €200,000 for singles and €260,000 for couples or single parents, plus €40,000 per dependent child.
With colder weather approaching and energy costs still a concern, the government aims to provide timely financial relief to households struggling with winter heating expenses.
