Andros Voted Greece’s Top Walking Destination 2025

Andros has been crowned Greece’s leading walking destination for 2025, following a vote by British travellers at the Greek Travel Awards. The award was presented on Tuesday, Nov. 5, during a special event organized by the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) following the opening day of the World Travel Market (WTM) 2025 in London.

The accolade is expected to further boost the island’s visibility in the UK market, underscoring the growing international appeal of its well-organized network of hiking trails.

The Cycladic island competed in the “Best Walking Destination in Greece” category at the annual Greek Travel Awards, organized for the fourth consecutive year by the GNTO Office in Great Britain. British voters enthusiastically backed Andros, propelling it to the top spot.

Notably, Andros continues to stand out among Europe’s “hidden gem” islands. The popular German travel site Reisereporter lists it among Greece’s best destinations for modern travellers seeking “a peaceful, off-the-beaten-path holiday spot for their next off-season escape.”

The recognition offers significant exposure in the UK, with the results followed closely by prominent journalists, bloggers, and tourism professionals.

Over the past months, the GNTO’s UK Office and the Municipality of Andros have worked closely to promote the island through coordinated marketing efforts. The public vote was conducted in collaboration with IceLolly and Travelsupermarket, two of the UK’s most trusted comparison and booking platforms for holiday packages and travel services.

Andros’s Municipal Tourism Commissioner, Nikos Moustakas, expressed heartfelt thanks to Eleni Skarveli, Director of the GNTO Office in Great Britain, for her excellent organization and efforts in promoting Andros in the UK. He noted that the award reflects the dedication of Andros Routes, local volunteers, supporting organizations, and the Municipality.
