
A new message, via 112, for the evacuation of Kapandriti and Polydendri again was sent a few hours ago by the Civil Protection Agency due to the dimensions of the fire, which has crossed the National Highway at the height of Afidnes and is heading to Kapandriti.
The message states: “if you are located in Polydendri or Kapandriti, evacuate now to Barnabas-Nea Makri from the provincial road Marathonos-Kapandriti”.
Malakasa is also being evacuated as the fire that is raging in the area has reached extremely dangerous proportions.
After Kapandriti and Polydendri, a few minutes ago a second message was sent by the Civil Protection, via 112, which states: “if you are in Malakasa or the settlement of Sfendali, evacuate now to Oropos via Athens-Oropos Avenue”.
Note that flames have resurged in both Kryoneri and Ippokratous Politeia. Firefighters have to deal with a very difficult situation as at least four fronts are fully active.
In Kryoneri, the resurgence occurred shortly after 11:15 on Friday morning. The flames are huge, explosions are constantly heard because there are PPC transformers in the area, while the black smoke is visible from a huge distance.
The fire has circled Kryoneri from the upper side, as broadcast by ERT public television. Other fire trucks are arriving in the area to deal with the situation.
Explosions are also heard there, while police officers who are at the spot herding TV crews and anyone else at the spot away. Flames are now inside the settlement.
There is great concern about the gas stations that exist in the area.
