Four regions around Greece – greater Thessaloniki, Larissa, Halkidiki and Kilkis prefectures – were placed in epidemiological “Level 4” (red) on Thursday for Covid-19 concentration, with another half dozen regions in the country also remaining in the highest (worst) such situation.

Any change in the status will be announced by public health officials next week, after the latest data regarding the pandemic is reviewed.

A level 4 designation means a 1 a.m. to 6 p.m. curfew on non-essential travel outdoors and a ban on music in establishments, among others.

The news comes as 2,232 new single-day coronavirus infections were reported on Thursday, along with 33 related fatalities. The death toll in Greece from the pandemic rose to 14,828.

Finally, 326 patients remained intubated at hospital ICUs, suffering from acute Covid-19 symptoms.
