The head of multinational tour operator TUI on Wednesday said the group expects a doubling of its arrivals to Greece for 2022, compared to the previous year.
If the prediction holds, TUI customers to Greece will exceed the pre-pandemic level of 2019.
The forecast was made by TUI Group CEO Fritz Joussen, who spoke by video-conference with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
Joussen added that roughly 1.5 million customers visited Greece last year, “while for this year we believe we’ll exceed pre-crisis levels. As such, our planning for this year involves three million TUI customers to Greece.”
Another news item to emerge from the meeting is TUI Group’s establishment of a “Co-Lab” on the large island of Rhodes for the “green” and digital transition of an entire chain of services connected to the all-important tourism sector.
