A new Greek government headed by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis received, as widely expected, a vote of confidence in the country’s 300-deputy  on Saturday evening, nearly two weeks after the former New Democracy (ND) party won a landslide election.

The new Mitsotakis government that succeeds his previous government from 2019 to 2023 received “yea” votes from 158 deputies, exactly the number elected by the center-right party on June 25 with more than 40 precent of the general vote.

Voting against the vote of confidence measure were the 142 deputies elected from seven different parties, ranging from the Communist Party (KKE) to the ultra-nationalist Spartiates (Spartans).
