Tourism revenues in Greece this season posted a new record, with 10.32 billion euros recorded over the Jan-July 2023 period, up from the previous “banner year” of 2019, when the figure reached 9.11 billion euros. The same figure for last year, 2022, was 8.5 billion euros.
Specifically for July 2023, tourism/travel revenues reached 4.12 billion euros, compared to 3,5 billion euros in the corresponding month of 2022 and 3.7 billion euros in 2.19.
According to figures released by the Bank of Greece (BoG) on Wednesday, the number of visitors to the country also increased by 21.9 percent over the first seven month period of the year, compared to the same period in 2.22.
The first figures for last month, August 2023, are also optimistic, as the International Airport of Athens said passenger traffic for the specific month reached 3.29 million, up by 15.5 percent from August 2023; increased by 8.4 percent in relation to pre-pandemic 2019.
