The ReGeneration Academy for Women in Data Engineering powered by EY is the new major collaboration between ReGeneration and EY Greece, aiming to reduce the digital divide between the sexes, equal opportunities in the labor market and the inclusion of more young women in organic jobs in the technology sector, where they are significantly under-represented.
According to the Digital Skills Table for 2020 of the European Commission, Greece ranked 26th, with only 16.4% of women declaring themselves as professionals in the field of information technology.
This specialized academy will equip the candidates with knowledge and experience that will make them competitive Data Engineers, thus contributing to an inclusive work ecosystem.
The training program includes an intensive practical training in the theoretical principles and practical dimension of data collection and storage, in the creation of data structures, in the use of databases and implementation of architectural databases, as well as in the export, conversion and uploading of data (Data Integration, ETL) in Data Warehouses.
Commenting on the operation of the academy, Mr. Panagiotis Papazoglou, CEO of EY Greece, said: “At EY, our goal is to create a better working world. Such a vision could only focus on people themselves. True to our commitment to provide our people with the tools to meet their goals, but also to our vision to promote diversity and inclusion in the workplace, we partner with ReGeneration to implement the ReGeneration Academy for Women in Data Engineering, powered by EY. We hope through this cooperation to give the opportunity to new, talented data engineers, to develop their capabilities, so that they can competently compete in the labor market and, through their work, to produce added value for the Greek economy and society, at a time when our country is taking the step towards a digital tomorrow “.
For his part, Panagiotis Madamopoulos-Moraris, Co-Founder of ReGeneration, states: “Guided by our vision for democratization of opportunities for the young people of the country, we continue to design and implement, in collaboration with the ecosystem of companies other organizations, programs and initiatives that support the future of Greece. Young women are already at the heart of many ReGeneration programs, and we are very pleased that through this partnership with EV, we can support even more young graduates to train and vigorously claim a job in the ever-evolving and sought-after data industry. In this way, we hope to contribute from our side to the largest and most substantial representation of women in the technology sector. ”
