The “off-the-beaten-path” north Cyclades island of Andros landed on the Israeli media group Haaretz’s “radar” this week, which it called, among others, an ideal destination for families, even beginning in the spring.

Haaretz lauds the quiet Greek isle, compared to other nearby jet-setting Cyclades neighbors, for its local dishes and picturesque landscapes, and all just a two-hour ferry boat ride from the near-Athens port of Rafina.

The destination wasn’t “discovered” by mistake, but is the product of promotional initiatives by the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) in Israel.
