The Greek government on Tuesday announced that inter-city bus routes will be subject to public tenders in each specific geographic region, with the first tenders expected in early 2023.
The intent is to end a “closed shop” situation that has kept prices high levels, compared to distances involved, for decades.
A draft law, which awaits publication for public debate in order to be tabled for ratification next month, aims to harmonize Greek law with EU directive 1370/2007.
