The Pan-Hellenic Political survey of OPINION POLL for newspaper tomanifesto shows a lead of governing New Democracy (ND) party of 9.3% over main opposition SYRIZA. The poll was carried out at the completion of three years of the government’s mandate.
The poll was held after the intervention of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis who clarified the issues of the timing of the elections, with the Turkish provocations continuing and while the debate on the Education Bill was taking place in Parliament.
New Democracy lead in the intention to vote at 9.3%
The survey shows that the ND maintains a significant difference of 8.9% in relation to SYRIZA in Intention to vote which reaches 9.3% in Intention to vote on valid candidates. More specifically, the performances of the parties in Vote Intention are: ND 31.7%, SYRIZA 22.8%, PASOK MOVEMENT FOR CHANGE 11.8%, communist party K.K.E 5.1%, HELLENIC SOLUTION 4.8%, MERA 25 2.5%, GREEKS FOR THE HOMELAND 2.2 % , NATIONAL CREATION 1.1% , FREEDOM FLOW 1.1%, OTHER PARTY 2.7% , while the Undecided are 9.9%.
In relation to the last survey in May, there is a drop of 0.4% for ND, a rise of 1% for SYRIZA and a drop of 0.9% for PASOK Movement for Change. These performances in the Voting Intention with reference to valid votes are: ND 33.1%, SYRIZA 23.8%, PASOK 12.3%, K.KE 5.3%, HELLENIC SOLUTION 5%, MERA 25 2.6%.
52% want the elections to be held at the end of the four year term
The intervention of the Prime Minister about the time of the elections seems to have influenced what the citizens answer about the time of the elections. 37.5% want elections to be held in the Fall, while the majority, 52%, want them to be held at the end of the four-year term.
Of particular interest are the preferences of the citizens for what kind of Government they wish to emerge from the elections.
What kind of government do the voters want?
The options gather the following percentages: Self-reliant N.D 26.6%, 11% self-reliant SYRIZA Government, N.D-PASOK cooperation Government 8.9%, SYRIZA-PASOK cooperation Government 11.7% and Technocrat Government with the cooperation of all three first parties 13.7% . Of particular interest is the response of the voters of PASOK, who as their first choice have a government of cooperation N.D – PASOK with 23.5% and as a second a government of technocrats with 20.6%, while an independent government N.D gathers 14.7% and a government of cooperation SYRIZA – PASOK 11.8%.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis: most suitable prime minister
In the question of who do you consider most suitable for prime minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis garnered 36.9%. Next comes nobody, with 27.3% and in third place is Alexis Tsipras with 21%. They are followed by Nikos Androulakis with 4.7%, Yanis Varoufakis with 2.1% and Dimitris Koutsoubas and Kyriakos Velopoulos with 1.7%.
