The Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) announced the data, for the month January 2023, of the Building Activity Survey showing significant growth. More specifically:
The Total Building Activity (private-public) in Greece, in January 2023 which is calculated on the basis of the number ofissued building permits, amounted to 1,844. This figure corresponds to 398,840 m2 of surface and 1,866,666 m3ofvolume, reflecting, respectively, a 21.2% increase in the number of building permits, an 18.6% increase in surface and a36.9% increase in volume, compared with the corresponding month of 2022.
The building permits for the Private Building Activity issued in Greece in January 2023 amounted to 1,826. This figurecorresponds to 391,360 m2 of surface and 1,829,025 m3 of volume. In comparison with the same month of 2022 there isa 21.4% increase in the number of building permits, an 18.4% increase in surface and a 36.9% increase in volume.
The building permits for the Public Building Activity issued in Greece in January 2023 amounted to 18. This figurecorresponds to 7,480 m2 of surface and 37,641 m3 of volume. Public Building Activity accounted for a 2.0% of the totalbuilding volume in January 2023.
In the last twelve months, from February 2022 until January 2023, Total Building Activity (private-public) in Greece,calculated on the basis of the number of issued building permits, amounted to 25,487. This figure corresponds to5,623,584 m2 of surface and 25,642,457 m3 of volume. In comparison with the corresponding period from February2021 until January 2022, there is a 6.1% increase in the number of building permits, an 8.1% decrease in surface and a0.9% decrease in volume.
In the same period, from February 2022 untill January 2023, Private Building Activity in Greece recorded a 5.7% increasein the number of issued building permits, an 8.8% decrease in surface and a 1.2% decrease in volume, compared withthe corresponding period from February 2021 to January 2022 (Table 4). During the same period, Public Building Activityaccounted for a 2.4% of the total building volume.
