Information on the restoration of the damages in the Electricity Network due to the fires in Attica
The Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator (HEDNO), following the information for the public, announces that all its forces (crews and contractors), about 690 people, are feverishly continuing the work for the restoration of the huge damages caused to the Electricity Network nationwide by the catastrophic fires.
Especially for the region of Attica, it is noted that thanks to the readiness and full vigilance of all its forces, so far most of the customers in the areas of Tatoi, Kryoneri, Stamata, Afidnai, Malakasa, Varybobi and Agios Stefanos have been re-electrified. Until tomorrow, the restoration of most of the customers in Drosopigi and Thrakomakedones is foreseen, while for Ippokratios Politia the works with technical staff continue intensively, constantly re-electrifying customers and with the estimation that by the end of the week the works will be completed.
The volume of damage from the catastrophic fire in Attica was huge, as in the afflicted areas 9 Medium Voltage lines were affected with a length of 158 km and Low Voltage Network with a length of 396 km with 450 substations and a total number of 60,000 customers. In particular, 1,000 power pylons and poles, 15 km of Medium Voltage overhead Network, 34 km of Low Voltage Network and 20 Substations were destroyed.
A few hours after the outbreak of the fires on Tuesday, August 3, with a series of manipulations in the Medium Voltage Network, the technical staff of HEDNO managed to re-electrify. about 22,000 customers.
By Wednesday, August 4, most of the damage was repaired in Varybobi, however, on August 5 and 6, the resurgence of the fire caused major damage again in the area network but also in Thrakomakedones, Afidnai, Agios Stefanos, Vasipitika Ktiteia Rodopoli, Drosopigi, Kryoneri and Malakasa.
On August 6, the substations that were inactive due to the damage to the Network, were 250 affecting the electricity of 38,000 customers, on August 7 it was 157 affecting 22,000 customers, yesterday it was 102 affecting 14,000 and today August 9 until the evening it is estimated that it will be 80, affecting 10,000 customers.
