Turnover for the Piraeus Port Authority (PPA) increased by 8.3 percent (5.5 million euros) in the first half of the year compared to the corresponding period of 2020.

Specifically, turnover reached 72 million euros, up from 66.5 million euros in H1 2020.

A recovered cruise ship sector accounted for a good chunk of the increase, along with vessel imports and passenger shipping, which rose, respectively, by 175.1 percent, 34.9 percent and 9.7 percent.

First half profits reached 20.84 million euros, easing slightly from 20.85 million euros in H1 2020; after-tax profits were 15.1 million euros, compared to 15.5 million euros in the first half of 2020.
Chinese state shipping and port operations giant Cosco holds a majority stake (67 percent) and the management of Greece’s largest and busiest port.
