
With inflation “strangling” households more and more, the government is considering the possibility of giving an emergency aid subsidy, for the days of Easter, as had been done the previous Christmas.
According to what has become known, the purpose is to give financial aid that will reach up to 300 euros to a series of vulnerable groups that are increasingly facing the consequences of rising proces.
According to MEGA channel, the allowance will be given in view of Easter to one million beneficiaries, especially to financially weak households, such as low-income retirees and beneficiaries of the Social Solidarity Income.
The beneficiaries
The beneficiaries are expected to include the long-term unemployed and people with disabilities, while it remains unknown so far whether low-wage earners will receive the benefit along with single-parent families and the non-subsidized unemployed.
There will be income criteria for the grant, but also property assets will be factored in, while the annual individual or family income of 2020 will be taken into account – as this results from the tax returns of 2021, while for tangible assets the old objective values will be taken into account.
The allowance is expected to be granted during Holy Week (April 18-21), with final decisions expected in mid-March.
How it will be administered
According to Open channel, it will be given automatically to the beneficiaries without application, just like at Christmas, while a special provision is expected for those who receive poverty aid from the state.
Regarding the income criteria, a limit of 7,500 euros is expected to be set, while the old objective values will be taken into account as concerns assets. There should be no income from another source and the income of the spouses will be considered, if for example one of them receives a rent.
