Greece’s Gaming Commission (EEEP) on Friday conveyed to the relevant finance minister a draft concessionaire contract, along with other documentation, for the proposed integrated resort casino (IRC) at the massive Ellinikon site in coastal southeast Athens.

A gaming concession for the landmark real estate privatization, called “The Ellinikon” by its property developer, Lamda Development, is deemed as crucial for the viability of the entire investment.

The Commission announced that a pre-contract examination by the country’s Council of Audit had been completed, with a decision finalized on Thursday to award the concession to “partnership of individuals” under the title “Athens IRC”.

The signing of the concession contract comes next, between the Greek state and the concessionaire. In turn, the finance ministry must then grant a gaming operating license to the concessionaire, as per a recommendation by the Gaming Commission.
