Shares at the Athens Stock Exchange (ASE) suffered mild downward pressure on Monday, but still fared better than most European markets and Wall Street.

The ASE general index fell 0.31 percent to end at 896.41 points, up the day’s low of 890.98 points.

The Large Cap index ended down by 0.39 percent and the Mid Cap index fell by 0.75 percent.

Turnover was 60.45 million euros, in a volume of 29,054,700 shares.

Piraeus Bank (+2.64 percent), Terna Energy (+1.68 percent), and Quest (+1.47 percent) scored the biggest gains among blue chips, while Titan (-2.38 percent), OPAP (-2.33 percent) and Coca Cola HBC (-2.02 percent) suffered the biggest losses. In terms of market indices, Banks (+0.77 percent) and Oil (+0.40 percent) moved up, while Travel (-2.16 percent) and Foods (-1.99 percent) moved down. Alpha Bank and Eurobank were the most heavily traded shares of the day.

Broadly, decliners led advancers by 74 to 48, with another 26 issues unchanged.
