The unemployment rate in Greece stood at 11.9 percent of the active workforce in the fourth quarter of 2022, slightly up from the 11.6-percent figure in the third quarter of 2022 and 13.2 percent in the corresponding quarter of 2021, the Hellenic Statistical Authority (EL.STAT) announced on Thursday.
Specifically, the number of unemployed people exceeded 558,000 in Q4 2020.
The unemployment rate for women was 15.7 percent. The 15 to 19 age group was plagued with the highest unemployment rate, at 39.4 percent.
Among the country’s regions, Thessaly (16.2 percent), Western Macedonia (15.2 percent) and Central Macedonia (14.9 percent) recorded the highest unemployment rates.
