The number of registered unemployed in Greece last month (March 2023) dropped by 5.2 percent, on an annual basis, according to the labor ministry-affiliated Hellenic Manpower Employment Organization (DYPA).
In absolute terms, the number of registered unemployed in the country for March 2023 totaled 1,035,580, down from 1,092,509 in March 2022, meaning almost 60,000 less jobless people registered with the agency.
Conversely, the number of people receiving jobless benefits increased by 20 percent, or just over 32,508, compared to the same month of 2022.
The number of registered unemployed people, on a month-to-month basis, dropped in March 2023, compared to the preceding month, February 2023, by nearly 39,000, or 3.9 percent.
The number of people receiving jobless benefits was reduced by roughly 45,000 in March 2023, compared to the previous month, from 239,196 down to 195,365 in March 2023.
Women comprise 64.2 percent of the registered unemployed in the country, while the 30 to 44 age group comprises the largest portion of registered jobless people.
