Minister of Economy and Finance Kostis Hatzidakis is en route to Luxembourg to partake in the Eurogroup and Ecofin gatherings.
The Eurogroup session will convene today, Thursday, focusing on macroeconomic developments within the Eurozone, the challenges and opportunities for boosting the international competitiveness of the European economy, and the introduction of the digital euro.
On Friday, April 12, the Ecofin assembly will discuss the interim evaluation of the Recovery and Resilience Facility by the European Commission. This facility aims to mitigate pandemic-related economic and social impacts, achieve the EU’s climate neutrality goal by 2050, accelerate Europe’s digital transition, and promote job creation and economic growth. It also focuses on enhancing the resilience, sustainability, and preparedness of Member States for green and digital transitions.
Furthermore, discussions will revolve around the economic and fiscal ramifications of the Ukrainian conflict, alongside the initiatives of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office, particularly in combating VAT fraud.
Throughout these sessions, Hatzidakis will engage in discussions with European counterparts.
Subsequently, upon the conclusion of the Ecofin meeting on Friday, the minister will journey to Brussels to participate in the 9th Cohesion Forum, convened by the European Commission, along with other local and national officials of member states and representatives, EU institutions and academia.
The Cohesion Forum will address the ambitious objective of making Europe’s regions more resilient, competitive and inclusive, embracing the green and digital transition and improving opportunities for all European citizens.
Minister Hatzidakis will be representing the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the meeting.
