The downtown Athens region of Exarcheia resembled a battlefield at midnight on Saturday when a group of unknown individuals attacked police forces in the area with stones and Molotov cocktails, prompting the officers to respond with tear gas.
The incidents occurred near the Kallidromiou police station in Exarcheia and resulted in fires in a ground-floor apartment and a store, while dozens of garbage bins were set ablaze.

Specifically, around 50 people leaving a concert held on Strefi Hill attacked police forces with Molotov cocktails and stones. The police responded with extensive use of tear gas and flashbang grenades to disperse the group.
For about an hour, according to the national news channel ERT, the area resembled a war zone, with barricades erected on Kallidromiou Street and nearby alleys, followed by street battles between the rioters and police forces.

The violence resulted in 11 cars and a motorcycle being engulfed in flames. Fires were also reported in a ground-floor apartment and a shop, while dozens of trash bins were torched.
According to official reports, the Hellenic Police made 72 detentions.
Clashes between anarchists and the Greek police are not uncommon in the Exarcheia region, with vandals traditionally targeting cars, shops, and police forces.
