Deadline for Tax Returns Extended to July 21

The Greek Finance Ministry has pushed the deadline for the submission of the previous fiscal year’s tax returns to Monday, July 21st, following a relevant request by the Economic Chamber of Greece.

Greek authorities said they decided to extend the deadline after a surge in delays and problems were reported by legal entities and individuals filing their tax returns due to issues with the system.

Over 313,000 legal entities have filed their tax returns to date, compared to 338,000 in 2024, while 6,413,000 individuals have submitted their tax declarations as opposed to 6,543,853 last year.

Greek authorities consider the additional time granted sufficient, given that daily tax return submissions last week exceeded 10,600 for legal entities and 80,000 for individuals.

The new tax return forms now include updated codes to reflect tax exemptions and reductions. Taxpayers are urged to carefully review key financial data during submission to avoid unexpected charges or complications with the tax office. Some of the changes include:

Income from salaries, pensions, allowances, and extraordinary state aid; withheld tax amounts; imputed income from assets like homes and vehicles; required electronic receipts; declared dependents, etc.
