Uber showed an increase in the use of its platform in Greece in 2021 despite the pandemic.
As far as Athens is concerned, there was a significant increase in the number of passengers who chose UberTAXI to ensure their transportation. In 2021, compared to 2020, the number of users of the Uber application in the capital almost tripled.
In terms of routes, total travel through the Uber application in Greece in 2021 more than doubled compared to 2020.
During the summer months of the year, the number of passengers who choose the company for their transportation from the airport increased fivefold.
The Acropolis is a top world destination
The Acropolis was the No. 1 most sought after tourist destination in our country, while at the same time it occupied the 15th place in the list of the top tourist destinations chosen by Uber passengers worldwide. This is an important Greek distinction, if one considers that Athens is one of the 700 cities that Uber operates in the world and in fact with only one service provided.
In summary, at the top of the list of the five most popular destinations for Athens and Thessaloniki – in addition to the Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” and Thessaloniki Airport “Macedonia” respectively, are:
In Attica, the Acropolis, Syntagma Square, the Port of Piraeus, the coastal area of Vouliagmeni and Marina Alimou.
In Thessaloniki, the White Tower, the Intercity Bus Station, Aristotelous Square, the wider area of Monastiriou Street and the area of Menemeni.
The tourists who chose Uber in Greece
Uber is the first choice among tourists visiting Greece with Americans, British and French tourists at the top of the 2021 list for all destinations served by the company. They are followed by German, Arab, Polish, Ukrainian, Romanian, Dutch and Portuguese tourists.
Drivers and passengers score high
Passengers said they were very happy with Uber’s services and drivers offering an average rating of 4.9 / 5 for all their 2021 trips.
As for the users of the application, the most “traveled” passenger of Uber, which is at the top of the relevant list, made 718 trips in the year 2021, almost two trips a day for a whole year!
