Eva Kaili, with a post on social media, commented on the developments in the Qatargate case, stating that “the plan is collapsing”.
The replacement of the federal prosecutor responsible for the Qatargate file, as well as the resignation of an investigator in the summer, led Eva Kaili to comment on the developments with this particular phrase.
The federal prosecutor in charge of the file was replaced as he was promoted to Liege labor inspector.
“They are resigning one by one,” says Eva Kaili in her post.
Eva Kaili’s post
It is recalled that the federal prosecutor in charge of the file was replaced as he was upgraded to a labor inspector of Liege.
As Belgian publications point out, the Supreme Council of Justice presented him for the post on October 20. More specifically, the new position concerns a kind of prosecutor for labor rights law issues.
On June 19, investigator Michel Clez also resigned, due to a possible conflict of interest as his son and that of MEP Marie Arena shared a company.
Back to the seats of the European Parliament
In September Eva Kaili – a few months after her release, from the prison she was held for her involvement in the Qatargate scandal – made her first appearance at the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
Ms. Kaili’s request to return to the proceedings of the European Parliament had been approved since the beginning of June.
