The government is focusing on tourism expecting a significantly better tourist season than last year.
Attracting tourists, in a difficult summer, the second since the pandemic broke out, is a top priority for the government, as tourism is the main means of boosting the economy.
Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, will be in Thessaloniki on Wednesday afternoon to attend the event for the inauguration of the 14 airports managed by Fraport Greece, which will take place at “Macedonia” airport.
From the new facilities of the Thessaloniki airport, Kyriakos Mitsotakis is expected to send a message that Greece is ready to receive visitors. He will emphasize that it is a safe country, which adheres to all health protocols for the protection of public health.
The digital vaccination certificate is also on the way
From the beginning of June, the Digital Vaccination Certificate will be available to citizens who have been given the necessary doses of the vaccine.
Greece and Germany are the EU member states that have successfully completed the simulation process for the green digital certificate, according to a Commission spokesman.
The same source also stated that the test on the Greek side was successful in terms of the QR code.
The vaccination certificate will also be the “passport” of our freedom, as it will open the doors for us for travel, entertainment, transportation, and many other activities, which – at present – have not been precisely defined.
Vaccination on the islands
A key axis in the government’s strategy is that Greece is not going to make any compromise in terms of security.
In this context, operation “island vaccination” is “running” at a fast pace.
Residents and seasonal workers over the age of 18 have access to the vaccine in order to receive tourists safely.
