Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis tweeted that he welcomed the UN resolution condemning Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
“The UN has spoken clearly and loudly condemning Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. This historic vote is not only an expression of international solidarity, but an immediate demand for Russia to withdraw its troops immediately and in full. “We stand by Ukraine,” he said.
The resolution
The UN resolution calls on Moscow to “immediately, completely and unconditionally withdraw all its military forces” from Ukraine and “condemns Russia’s decision to” raise the alarm of its nuclear forces. ”

The text of the resolution “condemns” Russia’s “aggression” against Ukraine. The last time the Security Council convened an extraordinary session of the General Assembly was in 1982, according to the UN website.

Thirty-five members, including China, abstained and five countries: Russia, Syria, Belarus, North Korea and Eritrea, voted against the resolution. While the General Assembly resolutions are not binding, they have political significance.
