
The Ministry of Development and Investments has earmarked more than 14 million euros available for the expansion of the Suburban Railway to Loutraki.
This is what the Deputy Minister of Development and Investments Christos Dimas says in his post on social media on the occasion of today’s signing of the 2nd amendment of the act, by the special secretary of the Ministry of Development and Investments Giorgos Zervos.

Specifically, the deputy minister stated:
“More than 14 million euros from the Ministry of Development and Investments for the extension of Suburban in Loutraki.
The project envisages the conversion to a standard gauge electrified line and its final connection, in the area of the Isthmus, with the existing High Speed Rail Line of the Suburban Railway operating between Kiato – Corinth – Athens Airport.
Projects
The projects to be built are the following:
– Single standard gauge railway line 6.4 km long from the connection with the High Speed Railway Line SKA – KIATO, in the area of the old S.S. Isthmus, up to Loutraki. The connection between will be signalled.
– A secondary railway line of standard gauge, approximately 0.45 km long, parallel to the main studied line of Isthmos – Loutraki, to serve the traffic needs of the trains.
– Electrification of the new line with single-wire trolley-type electrification, with an overhead contact line.
– Renovation of the building facilities of the S.S. Isthmus and improvement of the surrounding area by creating an outdoor, fenced and illuminated parking area.
– The construction of docks at the Isthmus Station and at the Casino (Mechanical) and Loutraki Stations.
– Installation of modern Automatic Level Crossing Systems at all existing approved unguarded or guarded level crossings as well as at the level crossings that will result from the implementation of the street plan of the Municipality of Loutraki – Perachora.
The supplementary contract
Also with the 1st Supplementary Works Contract, the following projects will be built:
– Support works and hydraulic works in the Isthmus area.
– Hydraulic works within the urban fabric, additional retaining walls as well as constructions at the entrances of Loutraki, Casino and Isthmus railway stations and construction of part of the Katunistra technical stream.
– Additional works to the existing system of supervisory control and acquisition of electromobility data at the Remote Control Center of Corinth.
– Additional tasks of monitoring equipment and remote control of ASID (closed circuit television system (CCTV), remote initialization of axle counters.
On Thursday the Special Secretary of the Ministry of Development and Investments Giorgos Zervos signed the 2nd amendment of the act. The above changes have the effect of increasing the Total Public Expenditure of the operation to 14,420,712.02 euros (against 9,285,120 euros), the Eligible Public Expenditure of the operation to 11,182,313.91 euros (against 7,200,000 euros) and of the total eligible costs for the calculation of the Union support to 10,336,930.98 euros (against 6,655,680 euros).”
