Registered unemployment in Greece last month, June 2023, decreased 6 percent compared to the corresponding month in 2022, although it rose by 1.4 percent when compared to the preceding month, May 2023.
The figure, in absolute terms, means that slightly more than 55,000 people were no longer registered as jobless between June 2022 and 2023.
According to official figures released on Thursday, registered unemployment in the country was comprised of 866,449 persons in June 2023, of which 493,463 (57 percent) were long-term unemployed (more than 12 months). The remaining 372,968 people (43 percent) have been unemployed for less than 12 months.
The number of people receiving jobless benefits totaled 108,298 in June 2023, up by 3.2 percent, compared with June 2022 and down by 7.9 percent, compared to May 2023.
