The Benaki Museum is entering the new digital age through the new generation networks of Wind. The strategic cooperation for the creation of the first 5G museum in Greece was signed today between Wind Hellas and the Benaki Museum. Thanks to the capabilities offered by the company’s 5G network, the Museum meets the high expectations of its audience for digital actions by implementing alternative virtual experiences and promoting digital access to culture.
The work of the digital transformation of the Benaki Museum starts from the emblematic building of Piraeus 138. Then it will be extended to the Museum of Greek Culture and the other buildings of the Museum. The average annual number of visitors to the branches of the Benaki Museum who can tour and admire thousands of exhibits from around the world exceeds 500.00.
“At the Benaki Museum we are always looking for ways to innovate and evolve in order to make the rich and unique content of the Museum widely accessible, both in terms of permanent collections and the periodic exhibitions it hosts. The cooperation with Wind and the support it provides to the Benaki Museum equip us with the necessary technological infrastructure that will enable us to transport the Museum to the public wherever it is located in an innovative way. 360 ° video and augmented reality productions will contribute even more to the Museum’s cultural mission “, said Haris Ciambanis, CEO of the Benaki Museum.
“With this collaboration, Wind digitally transforms the cultural landscape and the way the public experiences art and history. Through the possibilities offered by the new generation networks, the Benaki Museum, which is the Greek ark of world culture, enters the new digital age with the aim of implementing actions that “travel outside the walls” and are available everywhere to everyone. Technology becomes an ally for the cultural product of our country so that it can be promoted all over the world in more creative and impressive ways “, said George Tsaprounis, communication director of Wind Hellas.
Wind, as a comprehensive provider of communication and technology services, is helping in the effort of digital transformation of the country and with its infrastructure, know-how and people it contributes to a project that will give new possibilities to the cultural landscape.
