Fast and fair, with immediate compensations, was the support to those affected by the natural disasters, the Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister, Christos Triantopoulos, underlined, speaking at an event in the context of the 85th Thessaloniki International Fair.
“We are improving the procedures, we are digitizing them and, within a few days, more than 23 million euros have been given to 5.000 beneficiaries to help the businesses or the agricultural exploitation that were affected by the natural disasters”, Mr. Triantopoulos stressed, at the event, on: “State Aid: Experience, Reform, Evolution”.
“We managed,” he continued, “to reduce the time the compensations needed to reach the beneficiaries, that sometimes ranged from 3 to 4 years, while it is indicative that we have started to pay compensations to the companies that were affected by the Mediterranean cyclone “Ianos”. The 55% of these compensations will be covered by the State”.
According to Mr. Triantopoulos, “the presence in the field is important for us to continue the rehabilitations as quickly and fairly as possible, always emphasizing the next day for a better future for the people who have been affected”. In this direction, the digitization of the process plays an important role, with the special platform, where the victims can be addressed.
“At the same time, we worked the next day with the local communities and made fermentations to build the future”, concluded Mr. Triantopoulos.
